What Inspires This Project?

Inspired by the growing global momentum of the ecovillage movement, our intention is to reinvent our lifestyle to reflect our intuitive inclination for community, accountability, cooperation, and respect.

We are currently communicating with people of similar values who share our goal to actively begin living the kind of culture that nourishes Mother Earth, neighbours, ourselves and future generations.

Core Values

These core values are the foundation of the community vision. They are the purpose and driving force of arising goals and plans we intend to achieve. We encourage potential members to consider how these values correlate to their own beliefs.

  • Ecological Sensibility - village scale living using sustainable building methods and energy sources while maintaining an organic stewardship of the land and conscientious conservation of natural resources

  • Sharing Resources - employing cooperative strategies on tools, finances and ownership to increase the standard of living for members and limit dependance on institutional structures for basic needs such as food, water and energy

  • Creative Expression - fostering a space where multidisciplinary art forms are nourished and encouraged as an essential part of cultural development and valuable insight into humanity and life

  • Loving Kindness - creating a supportive, respectful environment for cooperative, healthy relationships with ourselves, each other and the Earth

  • Educational Model - actively living as a viable example of an ecologically minded alternative to mainstream and sharing our discoveries and ideas through workshops, publications and visitor programs

  • Human Diversity - non-dogmatic and welcoming of diverse backgrounds, education, sexual orientation, spiritual beliefs, gender, ethnicity and age

Goals

The goals below are some of the milestones we intend to accomplish. Not necessarily listed in sequential order, we recognize that these interconnected goals are an ongoing process of development.

  • Invest in a common space - a parcel of land that will ecologically support a small village of 50+ people, designed to support a four-fold plan of conservation, residential development, organic farming and community driven economic developments

  • Build low impact and highly beautiful homes, gathering places and guest facilities using alternative building methods, energy sources and the principles of permaculture

  • Establish an organic stewardship of the land to provide our own and others' food while maintaining a healthy balance of continued sustainability between our gardens and the surrounding ecosystem

  • Maintain self-sufficient and environmentally conscious infrastructural systems to support basic needs in the areas of energy, food and water

  • Initiate necessary community enterprises to support economic stability with minimal dependance on institutional systems

  • Build inspiring indoor and outdoor artistic creation spaces to run and host workshops, classes, artisan markets, festivals and public performances

  • Develop educational tours, workshops and seminars to communicate and share our experiences and link with similar local and global efforts
